Really? Food and beer? Together? And it's not just going to be light beer and hot dogs?
Really. The most famous book on the subject was written by the brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery, Garrett Oliver, and is called The Brewmaster's Table. In it, he recounts challenges he's competed in with sommeliers, pitting beer and wine against each other in pairings with various foods. On multiple occasions, the sommelier admitted defeat. Beer has more ingredients and thus a broader range of flavors than wine, and so it pairs better with a greater variety of food. A big reason you may not have known this is that TV marketing campaigns by major American brewers have dumbed down beer's image for several decades. Once you get past light lagers, beer is a rich compliment to food.
